5 reasons Why Jonathan Failed

Image
1. Harder to rig Past elections have been marred by serious irregularities and suspicions of rigging. In 2007 observers said the presidential poll was not “credible”. In 2011 the vote was considered to be better run but observers said that rigging and fraud still took place. This time the electoral commission took more steps to prevent rigging, including new biometric voters cards. Also President Jonathan’s party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), had lost control of some key states which meant it could not control the electoral process there. 2. Boko Haram and security The Nigerian army has made some recent gains against Boko Haram, but not enough to convince Nigerians The election took place against the background of an Islamist insurgency in the north-east of the country. The Boko Haram militant group has killed 20,000 people and forced some three million others from their homes and President Jonathan was criticised for not getting to grips with this. The poll was delayed

Read Prof. Jega's Epic Response To Orubebe This Morning

Image
After PDP party agent Godsday Orubebe created an embarrassing scene at the collation centre in Abuja this morning, trying to disrupt announcement of results (read here) a very calm Jega told him; "Mr Orubebe, you are a former Minister of the Federal Republic .You are a statesman in your own right. You should be careful about what you say or what allegations or accusations you make. Certainly you should be careful about your public conduct" Jega's response to Orubebe has been hailed as mature and worthy of praise. In fact, there's a meaning for Jega now. 'Jega' - meaning - 'To be inexplicably chilled in the midst of stupidity or conflict". lol. Prof Jega's full response after the cut "You have made two comments. One is that you submitted a petition  which I refused to accept. Secondly you claimed that there was a result released by the APC which you alleged that we gave to them or I gave to them. With regards to the first point, yesterday a

Wikipedia updates Orubebe’s profile over attempted poll disruption

Godsday Orubebe’s profile on Wikipedia just got updated that he attempted to disrupt 2015 general election result announcement on March 31. Orubebe, the agent of the Peoples Democratic Party at the announcement of the presidential election in Abuja, had called for the stoppage of the presentation of the results on Tuesday. Shouting on top of his voice, Orubebe, a former Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, alleged that INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had taken side with the All Progressives Congress. At the venue of the results presentation on Tuesday, the PDP agent shouted, “You sent a committee to Rivers to probe what happened there. We submitted petitions to you about Kano, Jigawa, Katsina but you have not done anything about our complaints. You cannot continue with these results; we will not take it.” As Jega tried to calm him down, asking to be given a chance to respond, Orubebe shouted, “Mr. Jega, You cannot continue, go to your office. You are partial. We don’t have any

Lagos Police Tells Resident "Don't Panic"

Image
The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday urged the people of the state not to entertain any fear as all parts of the state were under its surveillance. The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, advised the residents to go about their normal businesses peacefully without panic. Nwosu made the call in an interview with newsmen in Lagos. He was reacting to reports that the residents were apprehensive of what the outcome of Saturday’s elections may cause in view of declining presence of police in some areas of the state. “We have deployed our personnel to those areas that we anticipated chaos, and now that we have finished the election, the deployment will definitely will change.  “There is nowhere in the world where deployment remains constant, we keep on reviewing for the better.   “So, people should not entertain any fears. We cover every part of Lagos through surveillance and patrol,” the PPRO said. SHARE ON TwitterFacebookGoogle+Buffer You might also

He missed Nigeria’s election yesterday due to this concert, but the end product brought him nothing but shame as fans blasted him for his supposed proud and immature attitude and for getting drunk at the concert. They said he smoked too much Kenyan weed and he and his crew lost over 10 phones in one night. Kenyan fans who were present at the concert took to twitter to express their displeasure over Davido’s rude act.

Tonto Dikeh's motivational message to fans

What the actress shared on her instagram page this morning. Very encouraging. Read below... As you read this, remember you have a warm bed and a cooked meal at home. Everyone wants to be happy, so pay attention. Acknowledge that happiness is not quantified by materialism. I know many people who are reading this right now aren't happy with their lives. I used to think that when I have a nice car and a lot of money I would be happy. Yet on my journey I have met hundreds of people with all of these things, yet none of the happiness. If your bank balance outweighs your sense of purpose, or your only sense of purpose is working to achieve a greater bank balance, you will struggle to find happiness Some guidelines for happiness I wrote down. Appreciate what you have, gaining more won't make you happy if you aren't happy with what you already have. Live in the moment, don't video everything you see, take it in whilst it is happening, then relive the memorie

Here is a grandmother who watches porn & sleep with hundreds of men

An 80-year-old woman known as the ‘Gang Bang Queen’ has revealed she has slept with more than 1,000 men and starred in a number of porn films. Shirley Andrews (pictured right) is one of a number of ‘super cougars’ who proudly boast about their active sex lives with hundreds of young men – some of who are less than a quarter their age. Despite living in an old people’s complex, Shirley boasts that she regularly has sex with men as young as 18 – in between knitting and crochet. The woman on the left is 92-year-old great-granny named Marge. The outgoing octogenarian, who lives in Oroville California, even has a tattoo around her nipple that reads ‘Gang Bang Queen’ and launched a career in blue movies seven years ago. She said: “I made all of the videos at home. And I started posting them online and I just got rave reviews. "I just felt like a princess." Her biggest role was taking part in a filmed orgy involved fifteen much-younger men. Among Shirley'

Fani-Kayode says disregard election results flying around, says PDP is winning in 23 states

Image
Below is the text of a press conference by the director of media and publicity, PDP, presidential campaign organization, Chief Femi Fani Kayode today... We are deeply concerned by the level of disinformation and falsehood that is being peddled around by the friends of the opposition in the media and particularly their paid agents and associates on the social media about the results of Saturdays elections. Since yesterday afternoon they have been releasing fake results and they have been attempting to mislead the Nigerian people and our friends in the international community.  The public have been inundated with lie after lie about the APC's so-called victories in virtually every single polling booth, ward, local government area and state in the country. This is not only nonsensical but it is also far-fetched, absurd and childish. Two opposition media houses and their associates in the social media went as far as to shamelessly claim that President Goodluck Jonathan lost in my pol

Dodan Barracks: Once upon a seat of power

Image
Punch Newspaper Residents around Dodan Barracks in Lagos State relate, with nostalgia, to BAYO AKINLOYE their experiences of the military base that was once the seat of power of the Nigerian State The road — Obalende Road — that leads to Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi in Lagos State was paved with ‘gold.’ The stench of the liquid dry gold of urine filled the air leaving a bitter, acidic taste in passers-by’s mouth. At 7:30am, street urchins gathered in groups smoking hemp. Residents, who were around when Dodan Barracks was the seat of power, said with the relocation of the seat of government to Abuja, a lot of things have changed — not for the better — in the neighbourhood. A relic of coups and counter-coups, the military base occupies a large area located off Awolowo Road, Lagos. It was the residence of the heads of state of various military governments in the country and also the Supreme Military Headquarters from 1966 until the move to Abuja in 1991. Mr. Gbenga Jacobs, an Obalende resi

APC, PDP go head-to-head in Benue, results inconclusive

There were signs on Sunday that the results of the Presidential and National Assembly elections might drag till Monday in Benue State. Findings showed that apart from the slow collation process, voting was still in progress in areas that could not vote on Saturday due to hitches. In Zone ‘C’ for instance, where the Senate President, David Mark, of the Peoples Democratic Party hails from, only three out of the nine local government areas have been collated fully. Unconfirmed results indicate that so far, President Goodluck Jonathan and Mark are leading in the zone. In Zone ‘B’, where the Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, comes from, the All Progressives Congress is leading in the seven local government areas with a clear margin, though not all of them have been officially verified. In Makurdi Local Government Area, and state capital, where there are 11 wards, only four have been verified. However, in Zone ‘A’ where the state Governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, and Senator  Barnabas

Why can't steel produced after 1945 be used in space-related products?

What you're referring to is a mostly nonsense but with a grain of truth story. There is such a thing as low-background steel.  That is steel that was produced before the nuclear explosions from 1945 and later (nuclear tests) raised the level of radioactive dust in the atmosphere. The process of making steel involves blowing air into a furnace.  That air can be contaminated with radioactive dust.  The dust can then become embedded in the steel, making it slightly radioactive. For most purposes, this radioactivity is easily ignored.  But for certain purposes, such as very sensitive sensors like Geiger counters, it is preferable to use materials that are not radioactive.  There was plenty of such metal available from the scuttled German naval fleet. So, while some small components on spacecraft may have been built using low-background steel, it is not a restriction placed on spacecraft in general.  It is also possible to produce components in a pure environment to avoid the contam

His Pastor Asked Him To Return His WAEC Certificate For Cheating

Image
A friend to one of my close friends ( please this is not a made up story ) has been in dilemma for a couple of days now .He had been looking for a job for four years and recently gave his life to Christ. Upon seeking spiritual intervention, he was asked to return his WAEC certificate to which he admitted he cheated as he did the exams in a miracle center and was helped in all subjects he took. He however stopped any form of cheating when he got to the university and did all his Exams following rules and regulations earning him a 2: 1degree.The Man of God however insisted he got his WAEC result through forgery and cheating and must return the certificate back. Now the question he is asking is Since he has asked for forgiveness and Is sincerely regretted his actions is there need to restitute or return back the certificate ?? Why Card Readers Malfunctioned – INEC

In a new development, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed the reasons why the card readers failed in yesterday’s election. According to INEC, one of the reasons the card readers deployed for Saturday’s presidential and parliamentary elections failed was because its officials failed to remove the protective film on the lens of the equipment. The commission further revealed that some of the devices failed to read the biometric data of voters who turned up to perform their civic duties at various polling stations across the country. It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan was one of those who came up against the card reader challenge when he turned up at his Unit 13 polling station in his hometown in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, to vote. It was reported that for more than half an hour the electoral officials at the unit battled unsuccessfully to get the president accredited. Despite about four of the devices deployed to ensure that the president

Sex In Nigeria

By Patrick Dele Cole WHAT is the age when men and women can legally have sex in Nigeria?  This is a round about way of asking what is the age of consent?  A simple question; but an extra-ordinarily complicated one.  The new Child rights Legislations stipulate that having carnal knowledge (sex) of a child below the age of 18 is a crime in twenty – four (24) States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.  So would it mean that the age of consent is 18 in those States and the Federal Capital?  Not so.  For this purpose, Akwa Ibom and Kwara States specify 16years, whilst Jigawa State specifies 15 years. Even so there are other complications.  The traditional marriage systems stipulate generally the age of 12 – 14 years for girls.  In some parts of Nigeria, the age is as low as 10 but there are other constraints which prevent consummation of the marriage even if the girl, her parents and the spouse’s parents have agreed.  Among the Ibos, for example, child marriages from such

Selfies: How far should you go?

By Yetunde Arebi I am not a great fan of the social media by any means. I am shy, in fact, afraid of them. For me, their disadvantage far outweighs the merits. one must therefore be very careful, especially if, like me, you don’t really have a good knowledge of it. Better safe than sorry is my watch word concerning such matters. Until very recently, when I hooked up on the WhatsApp, I only could allow myself the luxury of the Blackberry Messenger. For me, the Facebook as well as several similar platforms were a no go area. I joined Facebook and Linkedin late last year on the prompting of my son, who insisted after the public presentation of my book, Youth, Sex and Wellbeing, that they were my best bets at  promoting it. Even as I write, I am yet to take any step in actualising that. I can count the number of times I’ve visited both platforms on my fingertips, I’m only there when it’s absolutely necessary.  I only discovered in the last few days that I could actually be more comforta
